Don't Let Old Food Go To Waste
It's the end of the year – a time when we often purge our excess freezer-burned frozen foods for our finned friends. It seems wasteful, but what can you do? Make more frozen food of course!
Those bags of freezer burned bloodworms, brine shrimp, and krill still has a lot of protein that you shouldn't let go to waste. Estimate how much protein you are adding, and offset it with staple, either in form of greens or dry food. In this example, we've selected some leftover Southern Delight food. You will want around 60% protein and 40% staple.
Put your protein into your food processor of choice first and puree. Then gradually add in your staple. You may need to add in some water to achieve a nice paste-like consistency. Toss in some peeled garlic – fish love it, and it's an immune-system booster.
If you are creating a medicated meal, now is the time you'd want to mix it in.
At this point, you may either toss it into a freezer bag, or mix in some gelatin, which will prevent the frozen food from coming apart and creating a mess in your aquarium.
